To Passion Sorrow Clings
To Passion Sorrow Clings was first performed at Reed College as a part of my 2015 undergraduate thesis. It is a dance adaptation of the Vietnamese national poem The Tale of Kieu, and explores performance as a form of multi-lingual translation. This was one of my first devising and directing experiences, and I worked intensively with the dancers and with one of my thesis advisors; Minh Tran. I studied in Vietnam and observed the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet and Opera rehearsals in summer of 2014 in preparation for this thesis.

My original ten minute play was showcased at Le Fondation des Etas-Unis. The play follows two characters who meet in the afterlife (a backstage dressing room) before being reincarnated into the next life. The first performance was directed by Emily Guernsey. Starring myself and Sergio Hernandez.
Work with Good Chance Theatre
Good Chance Theatre is an organization that aims to bring performance art and communication to refugee communities in Paris. I began volunteering as a Workshop Leader with them in spring of 2017 and also worked as a guide at one of the final showcases at Theatre de la Ville.
While this volunteering experience was very different from directing a full theatre experience, I found that it enhanced my skills as a performer, teacher, and a director to work in this environment.
